Daisy Scout Camp

This past weekend the girls and I went on a Daisy Scout Camp.  We went down to the beautiful Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.  Inside the park is a cabin called Hamp Hut that was built back in 1969 and donated to the Girl's Scouts.  So, only girl scout troops can stay there.  We all went down on Friday night.  We arrived there around 7:30 and the girls settled in well, it was about 10:30.  Very late!  Then we moms stayed in the other room talking and laughing until about 12:30.  We moms had a great time just visiting that night.  Our night ended with one of the mom's who is a therapist by profession doing about a 20 minute relaxation exercise for all of us to fall asleep.  By the time she ended, several of us cracked up and just started laughing again.  We could not help ourselves.  The floor was very hard, the mat thin, but somehow I slept a little bit.  All 15 girls were up with the sun of course.  So it was an early start to the day.  We saw dark clouds looming, so we set out early on our hike and then ended up at the visitor center doing the junior ranger program for a while.  We returned to the cabin with rain and cold, started a fire and then did a craft.  The girls played and we moms sat around again just visiting.  All in all, a very fun time.  And yes, Paula Diane Romney Nelson, camped!  I know unbelievable, but true.  I actually camped, it is a miracle.  I sure enjoyed spending time with one of my long time dear friends Elizabeth and her daughter Phoebe and then of course spending two and one time with my cute girls.  I think they make very cute campers.  If I may say so myself.
